We are thrilled to announce that last month, our Gertzman committee, chaired by Betsy Heuer and Michael Horowitz, met and approved 10 new grants totaling $376,700.
The Abraham Gertzman Fund began in 1996 when Federation was notified by a solicitor that Mr. Gertzman had left his entire estate to the Federation to be used for the betterment of the people of Israel. Today, the interest earned on the fund is between $300,000 – $400,000 annually.
Below is a synopsis of the ten funds that will be supported through the Gertzman Fund for 2025-2026:

- Adama Tova – Located in Nahalal, in our Partnership Region, Adama Tova is a voluntary therapeutic center that was established after the events of October 7th providing support to bereaved families and survivors of the festivals

- 0202: Points of View from Jerusalem – 0202 is a partnership of Ultra-Orthodox Jews, Palestinians and secular Jews. It utilizes media to bridge Jerusalem’s cultural, social and political divides

- HaBait – A non-profit that offers young families a comprehensive, multidisciplinary support system through personal family counselors with a specific focus on families of reservists.
- Hannaton Educational Center – This initiative will provide lone soldiers with housing and will integrate them into the pluralistic community of Hannaton.
- JDC – JDC’s Tech for Heroes program aims to develop technological solutions to help individuals in Israel who have been injured during the war.
- Kolot – An organization that promotes Jewish-Arab regional cooperation. Kolot is a vibrant hub of learning where diverse leaders from all sectors of society gather and learn from the Jewish tradition and beyond.
- Out For Change – Empowers young people in the process of leaving the Haredi world to realize their full potential and successfully integrate into mainstream Israeli society.
- Paamonim – Paamonim Communities Program provides rehabilitation for families in financial distress in our Partnership 2Gether.
- Photo:IS:Rael – A non-profit organization with the vision of bettering society through the language of photography. Using photography as a tool for social outreach, the organization facilitates dialogues between art and diverse communities across Israel.
- Tene Yerushalim – Tene Yerushalim works to strengthen the pluralistic Jewish image of Jerusalem through strengthening and building community infrastructures.
