Donating cryptocurrency is a non-taxable event, meaning you do not owe capital gains tax on the appreciated amount and charitable contributions may be deductible from your taxes. This makes cryptocurrency donations one of the most tax-efficient ways to support the Jewish Federation.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHERE DO I ACCESS THE WALLET ADDRESS TO COMPLETE MY DONATION?
You can access all of our wallet addresses by using the crypto donation widget above. Once you enter the type of cryptocurrency and reach the third step, you will receive a unique wallet address which can then be used to complete your donation.

WHAT TYPES OF CRYPTOCURRENCIES DO YOU ACCEPT?
You will see a complete list of the cryptocurrencies we accept in the dropdown menu of the donation widget above, under “Other crypto options.”

IS MY CRYPTOCURRENCY DONATION TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
The IRS classifies cryptocurrencies as property, so cryptocurrency donations to 501(c)(3) charities receive the same tax treatment as stocks. US crypto donors pay no capital gains taxes on gifts to 501(c)3 organizations that would otherwise trigger taxable events. Often, donating cryptocurrency can be the most tax-efficient form of giving for a donor. Please contact your tax advisor for more information.

WILL I GET A RECEIPT WITH MY DONATION?
Yes. You will receive a receipt for your donation via email, at the address entered when prompted in the donation widget.

CAN I MAKE AN ANONYMOUS DONATION?
No. We currently do not accept anonymous cryptocurrency donations.
