NEXTGen Detroit

The hub of a young, vibrant Jewish Detroit.

Who is a NEXTGen Detroiter?

Great Question.

The NEXTGen Detroit community is made up of 21- to 45-year-olds in all stages of young adult life. So whether you’re a recent grad, a parent, a CEO, single, married, here for good or just passing through, we have something for you in Jewish Detroit. And if we don’t have it, we’ll happily help you find it.

Here’s what we’ve got going on…

Birthright Israel

How Detroiters do Israel! Anyone who’s ever gone on a Birthright Israel trip will tell you, it’s the experience of a lifetime. A free trip to Israel, traveling from the south to the north, seeing all the iconic sites and hidden gems. You ride a camel, sleep in a Bedouin tent, climb Masada, swim in the Dead Sea, touch the Western Wall, walk the stone streets of Jerusalem, explore the mystic city of Tzfat and eat all the hummus your heart desires. Ten, non-stop days in the Holy Land on a bus full of your peers has all the makings of an incredible adventure — but our Detroit Community trips offer some special extras that transform ten days of travel into years of memories.

Let’s Get Social

Think of NEXTGen Detroit as that really outgoing friend who is always thinking of cool things to do and introducing you to awesome people. Check out our upcoming events here.

Jewish Experiences

Our culture is full of traditions and holidays, rich history, diversity and really good food — and we’re celebrating it with Shabbat dinners, holiday events, learning opportunities and more.

Keeping it Professional

Seasoned pro or just starting out? We’ve got career-building ops for everyone. From our top-tier networking series to our on-staff employment specialist, we’re ready to help you make your next big move.

Community Leadership

If you’re looking to make your mark on Jewish Detroit, we’ve got a number of ways for you to stretch your leadership wings. Join a committee, serve on our Board of Directors or get in on one of our leadership development programs.

NEXTGen Detroit Pride

We’re making a welcoming gateway into the Jewish community for LGBTQA young adults looking for connection and a supportive atmosphere to explore everything Jewish Detroit has to offer.

NEXTGen Detroit Volunteers

Meet like-minded people who also love lending a hand at a variety of volunteer opportunities we organize throughout the year. Check out the NEXTGen Detroit Volunteers Facebook group to see what opportunities are coming up!

Interfaith Couples

This group welcomes, embraces and educates interfaith couples and their families. Programs offered every 2 to 3 months don’t explicitly teach how to “be Jewish” but rather support and encourage families as they explore how to “do Jewish.”
