I am a proud Arab Muslim, studying at a Jewish school in a Jewish city — Nof Haglil. In the picture you see, I am hugging my two good friends when they put on their Tefillin — they are both proud Jews!
On Fridays, I call them out the window because they Sabbath observers and I walk with them whether it’s hot or cold. I even had the privilege of being with them and their families, experiencing the Shabbath Kiddush.
We respect each other and our special customs, on our holidays and on fasting days we wish each other an easy fast and happy holiday.
I call on everyone reading this post, Arab or Jewish, to stop the violence and hatred that leads nowhere. We can live together — look at us, we are the example of coexistence.

Due to recent violent events, Hesham and I had an idea, to have a mutual picture of us, holding signs both in Hebrew and Arabic (each in the other’s language) saying:
*ואהבת לרעך כמוך.*
*love thy neighbor as thyself*
In hope for better days to come.
