She speaks to nearly 380,000 followers around the world on Instagram every day, but on June 20, social media influencer, Israel advocate, and proud Jewish wife and mother Lizzy Savetsky was live and in-person at Hillel Day School in Farmington Hills for an inspiring “girls night out” presented by Aish HaTorah Detroit and Jewish Federation of Detroit. More than 400 women packed the auditorium to hear from the powerhouse speaker who was interviewed on stage by former TV news anchor/reporter and Jewish News columnist Robin Schwartz.
“Judaism is my North Star. It is everything in my life,” Savetsky said. “We have faced struggles in every generation, and we have not backed down… I love knowing where I come from, what I’m made of, and whose shoulders I’m standing on. That is the most empowering thing in the world.”
Savetsky was in Israel with her husband and three young children October 7th when Hamas terrorists murdered more than 1,200 men, women, and children, and took more than 250 hostages, many of whom are still being held captive in Gaza. Ever since, she has used her social media platform to dispel myths, call out world leaders, interview survivors and families of the hostages, face down protestors, and fearlessly defend against injustice and antisemitism.
“I’m not out to change people’s minds. I think it’s more about exposing the insanity, the idiocy and the blatant hate,” she said. “We have seen in the past seven, eight, plus months, that we cannot count on anyone else to stand by us… I think we need to show the world the truth.”
