The Jewish Federation of Detroit is outraged by the recent antisemitic attack on the home of University of Michigan Regent Jordan Acker, where a window was shattered and a car defaced with graffiti. This despicable act is not just an attack on Regent Acker and his family—it is an assault on the entire Jewish community.
Antisemitism, in any form, is abhorrent and unacceptable. Vandalizing the home of a public servant is a cowardly attempt to intimidate, divide, and sow fear. As Regent Acker has stated in response: such actions will never succeed.
The Jewish community will not tolerate these attacks. We are working closely with the Michigan Attorney General’s office, the FBI, and local law enforcement to hold accountable those who perpetrated these hateful acts.
We stand united in our commitment to protecting our community and fighting antisemitism wherever it appears. We call on our neighbors to join us in speaking out against hate and to affirm the principles of civility and mutual respect.
To Regent Acker and his family: You are not alone. The Jewish Federation and our entire community stand with you. Acts of hate will only strengthen our resolve to build a future free of fear, intolerance, and prejudice.
