Under Pressure: Helping Perfectionistic, High-Achieving People Find Freedom

Affinities’ newly formed Mental Health Group is thrilled to welcome Paula
Freedman-Diamond, Psy.D. and author _of Toxic Striving: Why Hustle and
Wellness Cultures Are Leaving Us Anxious, Stressed, and Burned Out—and How to
Break Free_.
Dr. Freedman-Diamond will lead us in a workshop to learn how mental health
providers can help perfectionistic, high-achieving clients find freedom in a
culture that glorifies productivity. We’ll get practical guidance on how to do
the following:
• Identify how personality variables (“nature”) interact with cultural
conditioning (“nurture”) to create patterns of rigidity and self-criticism
• Recognize the ways these patterns contribute to symptoms of anxiety
disorders, eating disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder
• Integrate tools from evidence-based practices including Acceptance and
Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Intuitive Eating to help clients detach self-
worth from performance
$36 per person.
