Detroit Federation’s Get There! Israel Grant Helps Teens Connect, Grow, and Lead

The Jewish Federation of Detroit’s Get There! Israel Grant is opening doors—and minds—for local teens by supporting transformative Israel experiences. This grant provides financial assistance to help young adults from 13-28 participate in immersive programs in Israel, deepening their Jewish identity and strengthening their connection to community and heritage.

For many participants, the impact is lasting and deeply personal. “On a personal level, the program taught me how to be more intentional about how I live my life,” shared one grant recipient. “I’ve grown into a more confident and self-assured individual, embracing my individuality and prioritizing what truly matters—connecting deeply with myself and with other people.”

Beyond personal growth, the experience fosters spiritual and intellectual development. Another participant reflected, “As I reflect on my time in Israel, I am struck by the profound impact it has had on my personal and spiritual growth. The lessons I’ve learned, both in and out of the classroom, have equipped me with the skills and knowledge to apply my learning to real-life situations. I am grateful for the grant that made this experience possible and look forward to continuing to grow and make a positive impact in my community.”

These stories are just a glimpse into the power of the Get There! Israel Grant. By reducing the financial barrier, the Detroit Federation is helping to build the next generation of Jewish leaders—teens who return home inspired, empowered, and ready to lead with purpose.
