FAQ-  You May Ask….

What does the itinerary include?

  • A fun, inspiring and bonding experience in Israel! The itinerary will provide special access visits focusing on discovering women making an impact in Israel.
  • While it is not geared for a first-timer to Israel, Federation can assist you in exploring additional pre- or post-travel visits you may desire.
  • The 6-day, 5-night itinerary includes hotel stays at the David Kempinski Tel Aviv and The David Citadel in Jerusalem.
  • Guided by our Detroit Federation Missions Director, Naomi Miller!

What do you include as Women’s Philanthropy and Federation trips?

  • Every Women’s Philanthropy or Federation travel experience has had some financial support.  Examples of these travel experiences include Mosaic Missions, Grosfeld, Barron Interfaith, Wolfe Mission, Israel & Overseas Allocations Committee, Partnership2Gether.

What are the Covid-related requirements for the mission?

  • As of March 1, 2023, the Jewish Federation of Detroit no longer has any Covid regulations or restrictions in place.

Any suggestions as I prepare to book my flights?

  • Please plan to arrive in time to settle in and begin our experience at dinner on Tuesday, November 14.  We will recommend flights being used by the many participants.

What should I be checking now on my passport?

  • Your passport must be valid at least six months AFTER the final day of your return date.  Check your passport today!

What if I want my own hotel room?

  • Mission fees are based on double occupancy.  You may request a single room at the time of registration.  We will check for availability but we cannot promise. The single supplement for the five nights of hotel stay is an additional fee of $1475 per person.

What if my participation on the mission is confirmed but my friend’s is not?

  • We have very limited space on the mission.  We will keep a wait list should more space become available.

What if I have to cancel?

  • Your payment is fully refundable until April 25, 2023.  After that date, should you need to cancel, we will work with you (hoping to fill your cancelled seat) but cannot promise.

What security is planned for this mission?

  • A designated security guard will accompany our group.

Should I take out trip and/or flight insurance?

  • We encourage you to explore trip insurance but do not require it or make a specific company recommendation.  Should you decide to purchase it, you should note that for the maximum trip coverage (cancel for any reason), you must purchase the policy within two weeks of your FIRST payment/deposit.

Are there any other additional costs for the mission?

  • Each participant will provide funds for tips prior to departure (estimated at $150).  Upon arrival in Israel, we will arrange transportation from the airport to the hotel (if you arrive at a time that most participants are arriving).  If you arrive earlier, you will need to cover the transportation fee.  We can provide transportation options.

What’s my commitment to Federation with my participation on IMPACT?

  • A minimum $500 pledge to Federation’s 2024 Annual Campaign is required.  You are asked to maintain this pledge for three years.  The 2024 pledge payment is not due until December 2024 and December, as well for 2025 and 2026.
  • We will also have pre- and post-programming to prepare you for this amazing experience and reunite after we’re home!

What will be the next steps once my participation is confirmed?

  • Upon confirming your participation on the mission, we will send you a registration link.  You must provide the necessary information and make your first payment ($1,000 fully refundable until April 25, 2023) within one week of your confirmation.  You will want to book your flights and explore trip insurance, if desired.
  • We will provide additional information and meet in person prior to departure.
