As a result of yesterday’s wind storms, many homes throughout metro Detroit are without power. We have been in conversations with DTE Energy, and would like to share the following caution:
The windstorm damage was extensive and resulted in electrical outages to over 710,000 DTE Energy customers. That is the single largest outage in the company’s history.
Restoration efforts may extend well into next week, with many people remaining without power through the weekend and beyond. The fact that freezing temperatures are predicted in the next two days is cause for great concern.
Please reach out to those who may be vulnerable, or that you know are in need of warmth and shelter, and offer whatever assistance you can. We want our community, families and friends to understand that the length of these current outages me be longer than they expected, and they should plan accordingly.
If you or anyone you know requires assistance, please contact the Resource Center at Jewish Family Service.
