Leah discusses growing up in a conservative household in Southfield and spending time with her Orthodox grandparents in Oak Park. Her first involvement with Federation occurred at a house shower where items were being collected for Russian immigrants. She talks about the first campaign event she attended, a Choices luncheon.
The interview touches on Community Connections and the Spring Forum, as well as the Mosaic Mission, including the origin of the name. She also talks about her family and co-chairing a Maimonides Mission with her husband. The interview concludes after discussing the importance of women giving and having representation within an organization, as well as her mentors and staff that she worked with.
Leah Trosch was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Southfield. She attended Hillel Day School and Southfield High School. After several years away from the Detroit area, Leah returned with her family and became involved with the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit’s Women’s Philanthropy. She has held a number of positions within Women’s Philanthropy, including co-chair of the Mosaic Mission, campaign chair, and president. Leah is married to Richard and they have three sons.
