The Leonard N. Simons Jewish Community Archives has an extensive photograph collection of more than 25,000 photographs representing Federation, its member agencies, local Jewish organization and historic Detroit.

The Archives is working to digitize its photograph collection and publish finding aids to its collections. As our collections database only holds a fraction of our collection, please contact us if you do not find what you are looking for online. Researchers wishing to publish, exhibit, or redistribute our photographs must contact us for permission.

In order to use an image, document, or recording in a publication, you must receive written permission from the Leonard N. Simons Jewish Community Archives. The Archive does not claim copyright over all its images; it’s the users’ responsibility to obtain necessary permissions. Depending on the size of the request and staff availability, there may be a fee assessed for large orders. Turnaround time will vary by order. Please contact archives for more information.
