Are you looking for impactful ways to collect and record your family’s history? Then this three-session workshop is for you! Join two professional archivists as they share tips and tricks for how to arrange, preserve and catalog your family’s historic documents and photographs. They will also cover how to successfully interview, record, and preserve an oral history.
Photographs are an important keepsake, but over time they can deteriorate. This session will cover basic photo preservation, as well as methods to help you organize your collection like a pro.
You’ll learn the tricks of the trade to preserve your most treasured family documents and how to arrange them for easy access.
Oral history interviews are a great way to save your family stories. In this session, you will learn the basics of how to interview and record family members, and make sure the recordings will last for future generations.

About the Presenters
Robbie Terman is the Director of the Leonard N. Simons Jewish Community Archives at the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit. Laura Williams is the Director of Cultural Resources at Temple Beth El where she oversees the Rabbi Leo M. Franklin Archives and Prentis Memorial Library. Both archivists hold a Master of Library and Information Science and Certification in Archival Administration from Wayne State University. Together, Robbie and Laura like to team up to bring history to life in our community through engaging events, exhibits, lectures, and workshops.
