Jewish Genealogy – Moving Forward
Thursday, October 25, 2018 | 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Max M. Fisher Federation Building
6735 Telegraph Rd. Bloomfield Hills, MI 48301
If you have taken our Introduction to Jewish Genealogy seminar or have the basics down but you’re not sure what to do next, the Moving Forward session is for you. The Leonard N. Simons Jewish Community Archives has teamed up with the Jewish Genealogical Society of Michigan to take you to the next step.
Our evening will be split into two parts:
Census, ship manifests, birth certificates…these are just a few types of important records to genealogists. But what happens when you find them? What do they mean? And where do you go next? Robbie Terman, director of the Leonard N. Simons Jewish Community Archives, will focus the first half of the presentation on how to interpret different types of records.
Ask the Experts! Q&A Forum
Feeling stumped about how to trace your ancestors? Are you puzzled by all the resources out there and how to use them? Looking for answers with no one to ask for help? We’ve gathered an expert panel from the Jewish Genealogical Society of Michigan to answer your questions in this genealogy forum.
Free for Friends of the Leonard N. Simons Jewish Community Archives and for members of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Michigan.
