Sample Courses in “A Taste of Melton” August 27 & 28

August 19, 2013 | Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit

For those interested in sampling the the courses offered in the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning, Federation’s Alliance for Jewish Education is holding “A Taste of Melton” on Tuesday, August 27 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Max M. Fisher Federation Building, 6735 Telegraph Road, Bloomfield Hills and Wednesday, August 28 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Jewish Community Center, D. Dan and Betty Kahn Building, 6600 W. Maple Road, West Bloomfield.

Melton instructors will teach the sample lessons and Melton Director, Judy Loebl, will be on hand to answer questions.  There is no charge to attend “A Taste of Melton.”

The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning is an exciting approach to Jewish learning.  Developed at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, adult learners from all backgrounds explore classic Jewish sources in an intellectually stimulating, non-denominational environment.

There are no tests or homework, Melton is learning for pleasure, not pressure.  The two-year course meets weekly for 30 week per year with superb faculty who encourage group discussion and exploration of ideas.

New classes will be offered this fall for the traditional Melton and Melton PEP (Parent Education Program for parents of young children ages newborn – 6th grade).

Melton Year 1 classes will meet on Tuesday evenings at the Max M. Fisher Federation Building, Bloomfield Hills and Wednesday mornings at Jewish Community Center, Kahn Building, West Bloomfield.

Melton PEP will meet on Monday mornings at Max M. Fisher Federation Building, Bloomfield Hills.

Because the cost may be prohibitive for some people, the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit is offering partial scholarships and payment plans for anyone who asks.

The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning is sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit’s Alliance for Jewish Education and the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit.
