Mifgash is Coming!

In Hebrew, the word Mifgash means coming together, or a ‘meet-up,’ and that’s exactly what happens every August as NEXTGen Detroit and Federation’s Israel & Overseas Departments welcome over 20 young Israelis to Detroit for a reverse-Birthright experience. The Israeli participants are central to what makes NEXTGen Detroit’s Taglit Community Birthright trips so special. Three times a year, 40 young Detroiters have a once-in-a-lifetime experience in Israel, and they are joined by eight Israelis specifically chosen to help them fall in love with the country and its people. Every summer, those Israelis come back to Detroit for a reunion unlike any other!
From August 13-18, NEXTGen Detroit and Birthright alumni host their Israelis participants. In that time, we’ll show them the very best of the Detroit Jewish community – from a mini-Shabbaton in Tamarack to a Tigers game, a Good Shabbos Detroit event, and even a Bar Mitzvah celebrating 13 years of Birthright (with some adult twists, just for fun).
