July 12: Guest Shabbat Speaker

July 12, 2014 | Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit

Thank you to Bus Geffen for leading our Tefilot this morning.  I would like to share with you a short speech that was shared with our group this Shabbat.

“When I was asked to discuss love and togetherness, the journey we are all sharing as a group immediately came to mind.  There are certain moments in life that unify us as a community and we are all fortunate enough to be able to say that our journey to Israel is one of those moments.  When you take a look around this group it is not difficult to see that we all come in many different shapes, sizes and packages but the one commonality that we all share is our faith and our enthusiasm about being in this truly incredible place. This opportunity to come together as a group, discover ourselves, make new friendships and take in all that Israel has to offer is one that few people are presented with, which is why it is so important that we make the very most of this once in a lifetime experience.  Open your eyes to the amazing land around us.  Open your ears to the songs of our faith.  Open your minds to new experiences, opportunities, and life lessons presented to us.  And open your hearts to our teen mission family and Israel, a place we can all call home.  Shabbat Shalom.”
