An Evening of Heart and “Sole”
March 26, 2015 | Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit
On Tuesday evening, Women’s Philanthropy held its second Annual THANKS Event for donors of $365 and more featuring special guest Jane Weitzman. The event was chaired by Amy Berlin, Nancy Shapero and Amy Shefman.
The evening began (and concluded with) a pop-up shopping experience, provided by Saks Fifth Avenue, Ella Designs, Erica Kleiman Designs, Pandora and Blue Lagoon. A special pre-glow dinner followed and was attended by about 80 women who increased their 2015 Annual Campaign gift by at least $118. At the pre-glow Jane spoke about her book, Art & Sole which was sold to attendees at the event for $25. On top of signing the books for each donor who purchased it, Jane also gave all of the proceeds to our Federation. If you would like to purchase a copy, or want to check it out, come by my desk and let me know by the Friday, March 27th.
At the main event, Jane spoke about the value of giving to the Jewish community and her own experiences volunteering with the JDC. In its second year, the THANKS Event proved to be an extremely successful evening with almost 300 people in attendance and the gift-for-gift increase for donors who pledged at the event was 8.38%.
