Alliance wins the Prestigious Florence Melton Award

January 16, 2013 | Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit

On Tuesday, January 15, 2013, the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School of the Alliance for Jewish Education and the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit was presented with this year’s prestigious Florence Melton Award.  This award recognizes one outstanding Melton school in the world that meets the high standards established by Florence Melton. There are over 75 Melton Mini-School programs in English speaking countries around the world.

“It was very exciting,” says Judy Loebl, Associate Director of FedEd and the Florence Melton Mini-School. “Judy Kupchan (International Director, Florence Melton Adult Mini-school), spoke beautifully about the Detroit community. It was a very proud moment for the two of us (Judy and Gail) representing the greatest city and the greatest Federation in the world!”

The award was presented at the Annual International Directors Conference held in Israel, January 14-20, 2013. Judy Loebl and Gail Greenberg represented Federation at the conference.
