Shabbat Message for November 8

November 8, 2013 | Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit

I have graduated to Savtahood. Translation, our daughter delivered our first grandchild this week so I am now officially a Savta (Grandmother in Hebrew). So far, it is AMAZING. I will tell you her name next week as our daughter and son-in-law will reveal and explain the meaning of her name at this Sunday’s Simchat Bat (means: Joyous Daughter) Baby Naming ceremony. In the meantime, I’m back to my next important job of supporting our Jewish Community. We are quickly approaching the end of our 2013 campaign and Federation has initiated a Fundraising Contest. There will be 10 teams of volunteers (competing for real prizes) to see who can obtain the most gifts for our community. Of course, our women’s team – captained by Roz Blanck and Leah Trosch – has some awesome strategies, but they need Team Members. I’m their first volunteer and hope you can join us. Please email Jennifer Levine at jlevine@jfmd.org to add your name to this fun competition. By the way, we need a winning team name. How about Team Stretch Marks? Just kidding, but it is just my segue (though not a good one) to encourage you to sign up for our SABRA THANX event featuring SPANX CEO Laurie Ann Goldman on Jan 14th (7:00pm) at Adat Shalom for donors who contribute $365 or more to our Federation. Please save the date and spread the word.

Wishing you and your loved ones a Sweet Shabbat Shalom,

Lisa
