Shabbat Message for November 29

November 29, 2013 | Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit

As we gave thanks for our blessings and lit our first Hanukah candle last night, we must also remember those in our Jewish community who need our assistance. On December 5th there will be a combined board meeting for Women’s Philanthropy and Jewish Women’s Foundation who both (in slightly different ways) work to improve the lives of women in our community. JWF is a grant-making organization with the goal of improving the lives of Women, Girls and their families in Michigan and Israel. They have set aside $25,000 to distribute to three (3) worthy agencies in our community. And, the Women of our WP board and the Trustees of JWF will work together on December 5th to allocate how those funds will be distributed. It is a wonderful way to learn about the needs and services of our wonderful community. I’ll update you on the results after the meeting. In the meantime, please enjoy your Hanukah holiday with your family.

Shabbat Shalom,

Lisa
