Shabbat Message for November 13

November 13, 2015 | Roz Blanck

Roz Blanck, WP President, was among the 40 Detroit Federation volunteers and professional attendees this past week at the Jewish Federations of North America’s (JFNA’s) annual General Assembly in Washington DC. Roz noted, “Being at the GA with 3,000 Jewish communal lay leaders, professionals and college students from the network of 151 Jewish Federations across the U.S. and Canada was both inspiring and energizing. The theme of the program, ‘Think Forward’, was most appropriate in this challenging year for Jews all over the world. We were challenged to think about the future of Jewish philanthropy and the future of our Jewish community.”

Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, touted the unbreakable ties between Israel and its American allies. Other highlights included candid talks by actress Debra Messing and Canadian Supreme Court Justice Rosalie Abella, the first Jewish woman to serve on Canada’s highest court, about how their faith has shaped the paths they forged. CNN’s Chief Political Correspondent, Dana Bash, was the keynote speaker at the National Women’s Philanthropy Luncheon.
