Shabbat Message for May 27
May 27, 2016 | Roz Blanck
Community Connections just finished its third session, where participants met with Executive Directors from two of Federation’s agencies, Hebrew Free Loan and JVS. David Contorer, Executive Director of Hebrew Free Loan, spoke about the many offerings of the agency including the Marvin I. Danto Small Business Loan, the William Davidson College Loan Program, and personal loans.
JVS Executive Director, Leah Rosenbaum, took participants on a tour of the facility. They saw a variety of JVS programs in action, including the Caring Companions Adult Day Care Program, where seniors with disabilities in our community are thriving, workshops where adults with disabilities were performing a variety of paid assembly jobs at the supervised Work Center, and so much more. Leah also spoke about the partnership between JVS and Federation through Federation’s NEXTGen Detroit’s NEXTWork Program which provides a series of networking opportunities and career mentoring/placement to keep young adults living and working in Detroit.
Thank you to David Contorer and Leah Rosenbaum, and to Community Connections leadership, Pam Bloom, Lisa Bronstein, Susan Feber, and Michal Korman, and Vice President Linda Spigelman for a wonderful day.
