Shabbat Message for March 4

March 4, 2016 | Roz Blanck

Read Detroit! was held yesterday at Bagley Elementary School. Around fifty women came to read to pre-K, kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students. Women read to the children on colorful mats in the hallway and sitting at the student’s desks. It was especially impactful for some of our women who attended Bagley Elementary School and got to go back to their old stomping grounds! Every child left with a brand new book, a monster themed coloring book, and a pack of Crayola crayons. The students were read to from classics like Amelia Bedelia and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Women’s Philanthropy TOV and Repair the World partnered on this program. Special thanks to TOV Co-Chairs, Jennifer Freedland and Susi Schoenberger, Associate Chairs, Sharon Resnick and Beth Snider, and Vice President Randi Sakwa.
