Shabbat Message for June 10

June 10, 2016 | Roz Blanck

Women’s Philanthropy had a busy week!

Community Connections 2016 just completed its final session. The participants were very engaged throughout the series and are looking forward to getting more involved in our community’s work. Thank you to everyone who participated! Thank you to Nancy Heinrich, Carol Rosenberg, Perry Ohren, Todd Krieger, Stewart Weiner, and Leah Trosch for presenting at our final session, and to our fabulous Community Connections leadership, Pam Bloom, Lisa Bronstein, Susan Feber, and Michal Korman, and Vice President Linda Spigelman for a wonderful, meaningful series!

We also kicked off the 2016-2017 year with our first Vice President Meeting, and we look forward to a wonderful year with our leadership, Leah Trosch, Sue Kaufman, and Vice Presidents Susan Feber, Nancy Glen, Randi Sakwa, and Sherrie Singer.

Young Women’s Philanthropy leadership, Regina Colton, Sherrie Singer, and Suzanne Fellows met to plan their next program.

Finally, there was a Community Campaign telethon, led by Judy Allen, Sharyn Gallatin, and Amy Shefman. In just two hours, 14 women closed 99 gifts totaling $73,380! Thank you to everyone who came in to make phone calls, and to everyone who answered the call.

On behalf of all of us at Women’s Philanthropy, we’d like to wish you and your families a very happy Shavout!

On Shavout, the holiday where the Torah was given at Mount Sinai, it is customary to eat cheesecake. To find out what “type of cheesecake you are”, with accompanying recipes that best match your style, take this short, interactive quiz: myjewishdetroit.org/2015/05/cheesecake-quiz/

Happy Shavout, Chag Sameach!
