Shabbat Message for January 22

January 22, 2016 | Roz Blanck

We had a busy week in Women’s Philanthropy!

The Jewish Working Women’s Series Chairs, Nancy Glen, Nancy Stone, and Lisa Weiner, and Associate Chair Marla Kaminsky met to plan their spring JWWS Program. Stay tuned for a great program!

We also had a great planning meeting with our Thanks Event Chairs, Lisa Brody, Sonia Gonte, and Leslie Ruby to continue plans for our Thanks Event, featuring Israeli fashion house, Maskit! Mark your calendars for Monday, April 11th – it’s going to be fabulous!

The Women’s Philanthropy Board and Jewish Women’s Foundation had a special breakfast with Michal Berkai. Her initiative, Alma Derech-Eretz, which is supported by the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), is a pre-IDF program for young women to empower them as talented leaders of Israel’s future. She gave a moving presentation to our women about her organization that empowers girls living in the periphery of Israel to ask themselves, “What are your dreams” and then empower them and give them opportunities to realize their potential. This pre-military for women, started just a few years ago, has changed the narrative in Israel, empowering girls, no matter where they live, that they can make a difference in the world. This event was chaired by Barbara Bloom and Jennifer Silverman, JWF Israel Grants Committee Co-Chairs.
