Shabbat Message for January 17

January 17, 2014 | Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit

We lost a great Israeli warrior this week with the passing of Ariel Sharon at the age of 85. Many bid him farewell 8 years ago when he descended into a coma, but last week, his organs and body finally surrendered to his final resting state. Our homeland is indebted to his lifelong contribution to the survival of our beloved State of Israel. His last public appearance on Jan. 1, 2006 was with a group of young Jews from all over the world. At that meeting, he emphasized the importance of year-long Masa (journeys) in Israel. May his memory and spirit be a blessing unto our peoplehood and may tributes of young journeymen/women descend upon Eretz Israel for many years to come.

Wishing all of you a Sweet and Healthy Shabbat Shalom,

Lisa
