Shabbat Message for December 13

December 13, 2013 | Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit

This past week the world has been mourning the death of Nelson Mandela, a world leader who, with his dignity, wisdom and compassion, helped his county peacefully transition from discrimination to equality. His early efforts were violent, yet, with time, he realized that non-violence was the only method to success. He had a willing partner with former South African President F.W. de Klerk and together they re-unified their beloved county. May his efforts and recent passing inspire conflicts around the world and especially in the Middle East to follow suit and seek peaceful resolutions to their conflicts.

Wishing you a Sweet Shabbat Shalom and (for those inclined) an easy Fast of the 10th of Tevet commemorating the destruction of the First Temple.
