Connecting the Dots in Jewish Detroit

NEXTGen Detroit is on a mission to be the hub of a vibrant and dynamic Jewish community for young adults in Metro Detroit. By serving as a connector for all things young and Jewish, we help native Detroiters and newcomers find meaning and build relationships in all facets of life, from professional and religious to cultural and communal.

We’re your first stop for Jewish resources, events or connections in Detroit. And if you’re looking for something Jewish and we don’t have, we’ll make it, or we’ll find a source in the community that does.

With a growing list of goals and a packed calendar of programming, NEXTGen Detroit is amplifying and inspiring the next generation of Jewish Detroiters to create meaningful Jewish experiences in our backyard and around the world.

A New Approach to Community Building

NEXTGen Detroit began by taking a step back, rethinking what it means to be young and Jewish in Detroit and reimagining the next generation of active leaders, advocates and supporters of our community. We asked questions, we observed, we learned, we tried and erred, we rewrote the rules— and then, we jumped forward. We harnessed the success of existing young adult initiatives, like CommunityNEXT and Israel experiences and transferred them to a completely new platform of community building.

Since then, the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit emerged as a national leader of young adult engagement, and NEXTGen Detroit is now a model for Federations across the country. With a growing professional staff, a dedicated and creative team of lay-leaders, a Board of local movers and doers and a population of young, proud Jewish Detroiters…there is no limit to what we can do.

So, what can we help you discover in Jewish Detroit?
