SPARC (Single Parent Alliance and Resource Connection) is a network for single Jewish parents and their families that connects them to the Detroit Jewish Community and all of its resources.
SPARC welcomes all single Jewish parents, whether divorced, widowed or single by choice, and helps families maintain their presence and involvement in the Jewish community in the following ways:
Educational Opportunities: SPARC helps families connect to Jewish summer camps, and youth groups, religious schools, synagogues, adult Jewish education and scholarship opportunities.
Programming: SPARC connects single parents and their families to existing Jewish community events and provides special programming designed to build a connection between single parent families. Our programs foster strong Jewish identities for children and provide supportive learning and social experiences for families. SPARC programs are designed to suit all Jewish single parent families, regardless of their religious observance or their economic and professional backgrounds. Special programming might include holiday celebrations, outdoor adventures, meet-up groups, educational workshops and more. SPARC also promotes the Single Mom & Kids Family Camp, run annually by Tamarack Camps.
Resources: SPARC connects families to resources in the Jewish community and beyond. SPARC provides referrals to all of the agencies that are part of the Jewish Assistance Project, such as Jewish Family Service, Hebrew Free Loan, and JVS, to name a few. We are here as a concierge to connect single parent families to resources that fit their specific needs.
