We are thrilled to welcome to Detroit Assaf Weiss, Director of Programming and Operations at the American Jewish Congress. Former Senior Advisor to Israel’s Minister of Health and a former legislative advisor at the Israeli Parliament, Assaf initiated and was in charge of many LGBTQ achievements and political campaigns including the first governmental legislation to end surrogacy discrimination, revolutionizing sex reassignment surgery regulation, fighting conversion treatments, ending the ban on blood donation from MSM and initiating an annual LGBTQ Human Rights Day at the Knesset. He will share his insights and experience surrounding these landmark legislative changes as well as the current challenges of being LGBTQ in Israeli society.
This is a free event, but registering in advance is much appreciated.
