Through our School Services department, Federation's Alliance for Jewish Education offers teachers and educators numerous opportunities for continuing education with the NIRIM Professional Enrichment Program for Jewish Educators.


Jewish Children's Literature Conference

A Jewish Children's Literature Conference was held on Tuesday, March 13 for area Jewish educators. The keynote address was given by Rachel Kamin.

Rachel Kamin, M.S.I., has served as the Director of the Temple Israel Libraries and Media Center since her graduation from the University of Michigan School of Information in 1997. She has served on the Sydney Taylor Book Award Committee since 2003 and became the Chair of the Committee in January 2006. Rachel regularly presents workshops for the Association of Jewish Libraries, the Michigan Library Assocation, and the Conference on Alternatives in Jewish Education and reviews Jewish children's literature for School Library Journal, Jewish Book World, and the AJL Newsletter.
